WHAT IS AN ADJUSTMENT?
One of the most common and well known therapeutic procedures performed by doctors of chiropractic is spinal manipulation (sometimes referred to as a "chiropractic adjustment"). The purpose of an adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement as a result of a tissue injury.Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for an individual. An adjustment of the affected joint and tissues helps to restore mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness and allows tissues to heal.
IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE?
Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?
On your first visit to ProMotion Chiropractic, Dr. Schroeder will review your history to get to the root of the issues you may be experiencing. She will also perform a thorough examination that will include checking ranges of motion, tenderness or tightness in muscles, assessing basic movements, orthopedic and neurological testing and more. Dr. Schroeder will then work with you through a variety of treatment options from adjustments, soft tissue care such as cupping or scraping, home exercises and more. Expect for your first appointment to take approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on your case.If you are new to chiropractic, there is no pressure to be adjusted manually during your first visit. You are always in control of what care you receive. Please note that every new patient will be treated during this first session.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENTS?
We recommend that you dress comfortably to your appointments with loose fitting clothing so you can move around with ease.CAN I BRING MY KIDS TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Yes, of course you can bring your child or children with you to your appointment. We are a family friendly clinic!HOW MUCH IS THIS GOING TO COST ME?
There is no way to predict the exact costs for your care since each person will require different amounts of sessions to reach their goals. However, chiropractic care is very cost-effective and actually gets to the root of your problems! Research studies have found that chiropractic care costs much less than traditional medical care, when the chiropractor is seen first for a complaint. We spend more one-on-one time with our patients than your typical chiropractor does, which helps to get you feeling your best quicker. We are not in-network with insurance companies, but can provide patients with a detailed receipt of your services to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement upon request. It is helpful if you check with your insurance carrier on what your out of network benefits are before you come in for your appointment. We accept cash, credits cards, debit cards, HSA cards and flex spending cards. Health Savings Plans are a great fit because you can use your pre-tax money for your care.
At ProMotion Chiropractic, we believe in giving our patients the best care possible. You doctor will develop an individualized treatment plan to help you achieve whatever goals you have in the quickest amount of time. We promise to NOT give you lengthy treatment plans, make you sign up for care credit, or anything along those lines. We just want to get you back to doing what you love to do, and QUICK!
CAN CHIROPRACTIC HELP ME?
At ProMotion Chiropractic, we treat each person uniquely. We are a boutique clinic and are not your typical chiropractic office! Each person has different goals, and our goal is to help you achieve those goals. Your visits will consist of a combination of adjustments, soft tissue work and corrective exercises to help your body heal, eliminate your pain, restore your range of motion, and get you back to doing what you love to do again. We are simply helping your body to heal and allowing it to function more efficiently.HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO COME IN?
There is no one size fits all with your health care. Your treatment plan is 100% based on you and what you need. Because we have longer sessions and we provide you with home care, we find most patients find relief after just a handful of sessions.DO I NEED AN X-RAY OR REFERRAL TO COME TO PROMOTION CHIROPRACTIC?
We do not take routine x-rays in our office, as we do not deem them medically necessary for most of our sessions. If x-rays seem warranted due to trauma, unexplainable pain, or due to a problem not resolving in a reasonable amount of time we will refer you out to a local imaging center or primary care physician to have the imaging performed. You also do not need a referral to come into our office for treatment. Please call the office or go online to schedule an appointment.
