INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a manual soft-tissue technique invented by an athlete named David Graston. David had sustained a knee injury while water skiing, and his healing was delayed which forced him to think of other ways to could help himself to recover and get back to his sport. He designed a set of tools to assist with his rehab that followed a cross-friction type of massage that was already being used on him.
There are now more than 15,000 clinicians worldwide who utilize IASTM with their patients.
IASTM is popular among amateur and professional sports alike. It is also been found to help alleviate pain, decrease muscle tension, improve blood flow to the injured area and sleep up recovery.
